German Christmas Decorations Has Anyone Heard Of This Old German Tradition?

Has anyone heard of this old German tradition? - german christmas decorations

A cucumber used as decorations on the Christmas tree seems odd at first, but it is a German tradition of old age. It is customary to hide a cucumber in the branches of the Christmas tree too.
Find the first child on Christmas Day the Christmas pickle gets an extra gift of money!

I heard of him - in the United States, when I asked them to think why someone, a Christmas ornament as a cucumber shape. I was informed that I was adopted to clarify this point, because it should be, a German tradition. Well, I was born in Germany and raised in captivity, but nothing to make sure heard that before reaching the United States.
"The first child will be found on Christmas day on Christmas money cucumber an extra gift. -> In Germany, unpack the whole" Christmas - The Gift - - Church - the celebration of Christmas, 24 on Christmas Day, 25, has not yet really sense at all. 25 26 holidays, but that's all. There are traditions that take place primarily during the day and of course without the traditions that have to do with cucumbers or additional gifts.
They said the youngest child had to find the brine and, when found, received a special gift that is not the whole point of this either. When the youngest child was still receiving the gift, instead of giving the gift to the poor child, anddone?

To sum up: I have this tradition of "authentic German" in the U.S., but never spoke in Germany and all Germans, I listened, frowned and said: "A what?" A cucumber and why we have a pickle on the tree ? This tradition is not sure where I'm coming! "
Ergo: it is a German tradition!
